09 - La Pompa de "fitti"
Un antico pozzo, probabilmente alimentato dal canale in “tubature di terra cotta” che ancora si ritrova durante i vari lavori di scasso e che proveniva dalla zona “Fontazzi”.
L’origine è sicuramente ottocentesca ed il suo uso era certamente necessario alla popolazione che stava crescendo ma soprattutto all’asilo, da poco realizzato proprio accanto alla pompa.
Una struttura in ghisa e ferro, azionata da una grande ruota che carica un polmone e ridistribuisce l’acqua da un bocchettone laterale.
Dobbiamo la sua realizzazione ad un’altra azienda storica di Tavarnelle le Officine Bagnoli, che al tempo si occupavano di idraulica e non solo. Un altro esempio della vitalità di un paese, della propria industriosa vita che lo rendeva autonomo, e pieno di ottimi artigiani richiesti ovunque nei dintorni ed oltre.
Una magnifica realizzazione del tempo passato che i nostri tecnici comunali hanno ritrovato e riportato in vita, perfettamente funzionante da pochi anni, durante la ristrutturazione della via Naldini.
THE FITTI PUMP
This ancient well, probably fed by the terra cotta pipes that can still be found when excavation works are undertaken and originating from the “Fontazzi” district, is of 19th century origin. The growing population of the area appreciated the pump, especially the kindergarten which had recently been built right next to it.
The cast iron structure is driven by a large wheel that loads a tank and redistributes the water from a lateral outlet.
We owe realization of this pump to an historical company of Tavarnelle, the Officine Bagnoli, which dealt with hydraulics and more. This is another example of the vitality of the town, its industriousness, and the excellence of its artisans. A magnificent creation from the past that our municipal technicians have rediscovered and brought back to life, in fact it has been fully functional for several years.
